This yearAS Kalev will celebrate its 200th Anniversary on 23 August. It is proven with documents that namely on that day in 1806 the oldest direct predecessor or AS Kalev, the Swiss confectioner Lorenz Caviezel started his business. It all happened in the Old Town of Tallinn, on the Pikk street where the Maiasmokk cafe is situated now. Read more about the history of Kalev and its predecessors here. During the Jubilee year, most of the sweets of the company will bear the special Jubilee sign. A representative album of the history of confectionery is being compiled. Its textual part is mostly based on the study of Heino Gustavson, D Hum. Eesti Post will emit a thematic postmark “Estonian confectionery 200“ on 18 May.
